Text věnuje pozornost ideovým východiskům, symbolické rovině slavnosti položení základního kamene, dalšímu vývoji výstavby i jejímu ustávání následkem hospodářské krize a politických událostí 30. let 20. století. (Byly dokončeny pouze dva objekty sloužící Vysoké škole chemicko-technologické.) Text se zabývá též poválečným vývojem a aktuálními perspektivami dokončení areálu.cze
dc.description.abstract-translatedThe study, prepared for the 100th anniversary of the laying of the foundation stone for the magnificent campus of the Czech Technical University in Prague in 1925, presents this event on several levels. From the first perspective, as a significant moment in the life of Czechoslovakia itself, whose representatives emphasised the quality of education. In the second plane, as one of the opportunities to realise ideas about the layout of a modern metropolis, which includes public buildings and spaces arranged for ceremonial occasions. During the period of Prague's great transformation into a metropolis and the capital of the new state, Antonín Engel was able to apply his ideas about shaping urban space and architectural designs that would reflect the spirit of the times and the purpose of individual buildings. The design thus represents a remarkable example of the concept of a university campus and a prestigious section of the city. The study presents the development of concepts, the ideological foundations of the campus, and the symbolic layers of the “corner-stone ceremony”, as well as the subsequent fate of the area after the Great Depression and following events halted its construction. (Only two buildings were completed by WWII, now they serve to the The University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague.) The text also focuses on post-war development in new social conditions and the current perspective on the completion of the area.eng
