dc.description.abstract-translatedThe study addresses the issue of persecution inherent in culture and religion, including Christianity. It seeks to answer the question of whether violence, oppression or persecution was and is merely a moral failing of individuals, smaller or larger groups, or whether it is related to the very sources of culture. As a link between culture and religion, we will examine the phenomenon of human desire, which brings us to the fundamental question of the so-called appropriation of desire. In other words, how do we know and adopt what to desire, and how are desires related to conflicts? Ways of dealing with conflict bring us to the question of the origin of religion and its function. Another key question is what role religion plays in the structure of violence and to what extent Christianity does or does not escape responsibility for violence. Methodologically, we will rely on structural and mimetic analysis as developed by the French polyhistor, social and cultural anthropologist, philosopher of social sciences and literary scholar René Girard in his theory of culture.eng
